How to Book a Rwenzori Food Experience Tour - 4 simple steps.

At Ruboni village, we know that booking should be straightforward, secure and not time consuming. Through the booking process we establish the important details before the guests makes payment.

Our staff will tell you the pricing structure at the time. Whether the price is per person, unless pre-agreed otherwise as a group, couple or family at booking time: if the experience is included in the longer tour, this will normally be mentioned at booking time

This is especially important for international travelers because Uganda uses the Uganda shilling (UGX), but the price is structured in US dollars because it is the currency foreigners will understand easily.

Since we quote or accept payment in foreign currencies, particularly US dollars, the exchange rate of the time will be confirmed directly with the booker at booking timebefore payment.

Tourism prices can change. Do not rely on an old blog post for current prices. Ensure you have the current price at booking time.

The payments to Ruboni Tourism village are possible through the following methods:

Please be aware that, we prefer Cash Uganda shillings and card payments. However, we can explore other payments available, in case the abpove don’t exists where you are now. The village doesn’t have a bank or ATM machine. The nearest ATM is 26km away, in kasese town. So come ready with cash for tips, shopping souvenirs and extras. 

The important point is to confirm the payment method before travelling to the experience. This way you will be more prepared and focus on enjoying the experience instead of worrying about the payment business.

We don’t  accepts mobile money from an international phone number. If you are already in Uganda, local mobile money may be convenient, but international visitors should confirm whether their particular payment arrangement will work.

The official currency of Uganda is the Uganda shilling, commonly written as UGX.

You may see prices written like: UGX 20,000 or 20,000/=

When discussing prices with a our team, it is useful to confirm exactly what the figure means. You will likely see so many zeros on the UGX prices. This does not mean it is much money, each US dollar is estimated at around 3500 UG. The rates of the time will rotate around this figure not going bellow 3000/= and or above 4000/= (by the year 2026)

Our prices are charged per person joining. Group or family prices can be arranged on request at booking time. 

For a community-based food experience, carrying some Uganda shillings can be useful, particularly as you are travelling outside major towns (fort portal and Kasese towns).

However, the amount of cash you need depends on the exact experience and what else you plan to do during your trip.

If you are combining the food experience with a safari or mountain trek, ask your tour operator about the best payment arrangements for the entire itinerary.

We have different categories of guests. This is why this is one of the most important questions to ask before booking. There is no single payment rule for all, because the provider knows that travelers are surrounded by different circumstances. Some will book before they start travelling, other will book while on travel, others will be groups while other are in planned tours or independent travelers. Some visitors are already residing in Uganda, some travelers don’t want to move with any cash, and worst of all, some travelers may have restrictions transferring money from their locations. Are there also some travelers who feel unsure to send the mney because of trust or their past experiences? Yes! 

This is why our payment procedure is not a one size fit all!  The following are the options of payment. Please tell us what works for you, and we can start from there.

1), A deposit: You pay part of the price to secure your date, with the balance paid later. If this works for you, a deposit of atleast 50% is required.

2). Full payment in advance: Full payment before the activity, this helps the provider to purchase food and prepare for a specific number of guests.

3). Payment on arrival: We allow guests to pay when they arrive. This is common if they are traveling alone and joining a group.

4). Payment after the experience: This may is possible in some arrangements, but it should never be assumed. It works well for last minute arrival decision makers for guests who learnt about it late either while on the safari or when staying in the local hotel.

All balances are due after the experience. This is what you will get at reservation, and or payment.

Free cancellation until 30 days, 20 days 25%,  10 days 50%, on arrival day /no show 100%. All feed and deposits spent from your deposit, by Ruboni Tourism village will be subjected to the cancellation policy of service providers.
