MEALS AND DRINKS:
The listed Ruboni village hotel prices are on Bed and Breakfast. However, we offer all three options of; Bed only, Half board and full board, additional prices for these extra packages can be offered on request.
RESERVATIONS POLICY:
Payment required upon confirmation of availability. This will be followed by reservation of your space on tours, activities or rooms.
Payment is done either by cash (on arrival) or by card (before arrival). Wire transfer is accepted, atleaset 15 days before arrival. The village ATM and bank is located 26km away, so please remember to carry cash or card. We prefer all payment to be done in Uganda shillings
REFUND POLICY:
Free cancellation until 30 days, 20 days 25%, 10 days 50%, on arrival day /no show 100%. All fees and deposits spent from your deposit, by Ruboni Tourism village will be subjected to the cancellation policy of service providers.
SMOKING RULES:
No smoking in common areas. Smoking must be done only in designated “smoking zones”

Your safety is important to us. If you travel with children, we would like to give you the following recommendations. Please use them to supervise your own children while inside and outside the house/ community at all times.

Child related safety hazards in this village may include:
● Being careful when crossing the roads and walking around. Wearing a helmet on motor bikes and safety belts in cars.
● There are pools and rivers around the village that could be tempting to children. Water can be deep and water flow can be strong. In other areas like wetlands, forests and reserves, pathways might be unstable or un-existent, please be aware.
● You might encounter stray dogs and cats, domestic animals such as cows, goats, and chicken, when walking around and although they are generally not aggressive, we recommend staying away from them as they might not be properly inoculated for diseases. Other possible encounters include snakes and we recommend that you watch-out for them. Please find medical emergency numbers below.
● the electrical system and our utensils maybe unfamiliar to the children: please inform your children to stay away from electric plugs and other item that is not familiar to them.
● Do not allow your children to stay with strangers without your presence or the presence. This may subject your children to making a decision they are not well informed about.

Our community also takes safety of our own children seriously and we would like to kindly ask you to:
● Not to take pictures or videos of individual children, and do not share children’s information on social media without consent of the parent/ guardian.
● Please do not offer local children to join any activity or visit un accompanied by their parent guardian, and avoid staying alone with children.
● Schools and other children centers are special places for children to be safe. Please do not visit these unless you must, or if it is for their good. In this case you should not disrupt the learning or playing sessions of these children.
● Children must not be with strangers at any time and especially in hidden places where they are unnoticed.
● Please do not exchange contact details directly with children; if you wish to stay in touch, please take the contacts of their parents/ guardians.
● If you wish to give a gift or donate money for children, please discuss with community leaders, Hotels, home stay owners. They can recommend the most appropriate way to do that.
● Our community has a rich culture and history and we are very happy to share it with you: Please dress appropriately and do not show excessive affection with your partners while in company of children etc.
● Please allow the parents/ guardians of the children to decide and lead as a way to protect the children’s’ interest in any activity or interaction where they are involved.

By protecting our wildlife and natural environment, Ruboni Tourism Village preserves its rich natural heritage for generations to come while offering ethical, unforgettable experiences to visitors from around the world.
Prohibited wildlife Practices (Unacceptable Experiences)
The following practices are strictly unacceptable and must never be offered, supported, or permitted by community tourism partners, guides, or locals:
● Touching, holding, feeding, or taking "selfies" with wild animals (e.g., monkeys, snakes, chameleon species, wild birds, or predators).
● Activities involving captive wild animals, marine mammals, or performances/shows featuring wild animals.
● Using animals for soliciting money (e.g., primates on chains, snake charming, or dancing animals).
● Displaying poorly housed animals as ornaments or attractions in lodges, restaurants, shops, streets, or community centers.
● Any activities involving obvious cruelty (e.g., bull/cockfighting, ritual slaughter for show) or provoking animals (e.g., teasing wildlife).
● Operating or supporting farms with poor welfare standards where wild animals are bred for commercial products.
● Hunting, trapping, Selling, serving, or consuming locally or globally endangered/threatened species or products derived from them.
● Any form of hunting, poaching, or unsustainable fishing practices.
● Drugging animals for any non-medical purpose.
Wild Animal Viewing Guidelines In Ruboni village
When taking visitors to view wildlife in their natural habitat—whether within the community forest or inside Rwenzori Mountains National Park—all partners, guides, and tourists must adhere to the following rules:
● Keep a safe, respectful distance from wild animals at all times and keep noise levels to a minimum to avoid causing stress.
● Direct contact, chasing, surrounding, or intentional harassment of wildlife is strictly prohibited.
● Do not feed any wild animals. (unless permitted by the authorites of Uganda Wildlife Authority for research, study, conservation or sustainable use purposes).
● Unregulated collection of wild plants, capture of animals, or the sale of endangered wildlife souvenirs/products is strictly illegal.
● Ensure adherence to international best practices (e.g., WWF and World Cetacean Alliance guidelines) for any marine/water-based viewing.
Responsibilities by Stakeholder Group
Guides & Porters must;
1. Educate tourists on proper behavior around wildlife before setting off on treks.
2. Do not handle, disturb, or feed wildlife during forest walks or mountain climbs.
3. Immediately report any poaching, illegal plant collection, or animal abuse to park authorities and community leadership.
Tourists must;
1. Maintain distance, stay quiet, and never attempt to touch or feed wild animals.
2. Decline participation in any activity that uses wild animals for photo ops, performances, or commercial displays.
3. Refrain from buying souvenirs made from wild animals or threatened plant species.
The Local Community & Tourism Partners must;
1. Preserve natural habitats and refrain from setting traps or hunting within protected or community-managed areas.
2. Treat domestic livestock and working animals humanely, ensuring clean shelter, food, and fair working / feeding hours.
3. Serve only legal, sustainably sourced food options to visitors.
